Ingredients

One 750 ml Bottle of Vodka

Ten Lemons

Three Cups of Sugar

Three Cups of Water

How To Mix

Step 1

Peel ten lemons and make sure to just get the peel and not the pith (or the white part of the rind). The yellow peel is what will bring the sweetness and flavor. The white part of the rind is bitter and will make the limoncello bitter if used.

Pour the bottle of vodka in a pitcher or jar and add the lemon peels. Make sure most of the lemon peels are submerged.

Cover the pitcher with plastic wrap and let sit for at least three days at room temperature. Traditionally, Italians let this mixture sit for at least twenty days and up to forty.

Step 2

Make the simple syrup by hearting three cups of water in a sauce pan to a boil.

Once the water boiling, pour the three cups of sugar into the water and stir until dissolved.

Let the simple syrup cool to room temperature.

After cooling, pour the simple syrup into the pitcher with the vodka and lemon.

Let this mixture sit overnight or for up to a day.

Step 3

Strain the mixture with a mesh strainer and discard the peels. Pour into bottles for serving.
