Make Your Own Summer Slushy
Summer is here and we’ve got all the tricks to make your own slushy!
Pro Tips:
Here are a few tips from professionals to help you craft that perfect summer slushy.
While we usually recommend fresh ingredients, frozen drinks work best with frozen fruit. This will help you reach a slushy texture and keep your drink frozen for longer.
We recommend anywhere from 2-4 cups of fruit depending on the fruit’s density and level of sweetness. For example, if you’re using watermelon you will need up to four cups. As opposed to mango, where we’d recommend two cups since mangos are on the sweeter side.
If you’d like, feel free to add a small pinch of salt. This will help keep the slushy frozen for longer.
Crushed ice is a game changer. It will create an even consistency and make easier blending. You wont’ have to worry about any large chucks floating around either! Don’t feel like you need a crushed ice machine - a baggie and a hammer will work just as well.
And finally, the measurements of the ice and fruits is an art not a science. The fruit and ice are the main components that create the slushy texture. Use your best judgement on how much to add to get the right consistency. Always start by low with the ice, then add more as you go along to reach your perfect slushy.

Ingredients
Serves Four
Pick One from Each Category
1/2 Cup of Alcohol: vodka, gin, rum, tequila, bourbon
2-4 Cups of Fruit: watermelon, pineapple, strawberries, mango
1/4 Cup of Juice: lime, lemon, grapefruit
1/4 Cup of Sweet: simple syrup, elderflower liqueur, triple sec
Two Cups of Crushed Ice
Optional Additions: jalapeños, mint, raspberries, lemonade, basil
How To Mix
Step 1
Freeze any fruit that you are planning to use the night before. Also, place any bottles of liquor in the freezer too. We want these ingredients as cold as possible!
Step 2
In a cocktail shaker with no ice add the liquids including: the alcohol, juices, and sweet element.
Pour half of the liquid mixture into a blender. Then add your frozen fruit.
Step 3
Begin blending on the lowest setting. While blending, alternate between adding the crushed ice and the remaining liquid until you reach the desired consistency. Be careful not to add too much ice. You want the mixture to be smooth with no big chunks, but also thick enough to hold that special slushy texture.
